TRANSPORTATION

Air transportation options to Stowe include:

(1) Burlington International Airport (BTV) is located 45 minutes from Stowe and is serviced by most major carrier.

(2)  Montreal, Quebec, Canada (YUL) is located approximately 2+ hour drive time from Stowe and is serviced by most major carriers.  Note:  A passport is required to cross the U.S./Canadian border.  Also, please obtain the proper documentation and information from the rental car agency to facilitate border crossing with a rental car. Additionally, please be sure to check with your rental car company about the pricing and feasibility if you plan to pick up a rental car in one country and drop off in another country.  

 

Upon arrival at the Burlington International Airport (BTV), ground transportation options include:  (1) rental cars (2) taxis (approx. $120 one way) and (3) Vermont Chauffeured Transportation Company.  The Vermont Chauffeured Transportation is a personalized transportation company with offices in Burlington and Stowe boasting a fleet of private sedans to luxury vans.  Maximum pricing to/from Burlington airport is $110 one-way for one person.  Ride sharing significantly lowers the price per person:  2 people per vehicle $60 pp, 3 people per vehicle $45pp, 4 people per vehicle $35 pp, 5 people per vehicle $30 pp, and 6 or more people per vehicle $25pp.  Prices quoted are exclusive of gratuity.   Ridesharing is not guaranteed; however, VCT will attempt to coordinate ridesharing, if acceptable to the customer, to achieve the lowest rate.  VTC also offers transports to/from Montreal, Canada, with advance reservations.  To make reservations with VCT, call 1-802-760-3838 or email stowe1@sover.net. Please identify yourself as part of the American Sugar Alliance group and advise of your vehicle preference (solo in sedan or ride share in luxury van).  More information is available at www.stoweride.com including cancellation policy and special terms.  Reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance of travel. While a major credit card is required for all reservations, the fare is not charged until travel is complete and the cost is determined.

    Western Sugar, a company now owned by farmers, closed its Goodland, Kansas sugarbeet factory in 1985. Sugar prices were low, the cost of doing business was climbing, and tough decisions were made that hurt workers and farmers.
